About

800+ locations, six countries. Karaoke since 1990.

From a ramen shop to 800+ locations.

One bowl in 1967, when the Koshidaka Group began. The first karaoke room came in 1990. Then hundreds more across the world. The chairs got better. The philosophy never changed.

  1. 1967

    It started with ramen

Koshidaka opens in Gunma. A hand-pulled ramen shop, nothing more. The company that becomes Japan's #1 karaoke brand starts by feeding people. The microphone comes later.

  2. 1990

    OYKOT opens

Twenty-three years in, Koshidaka reads the trend and opens its first karaoke location, OYKOT ("Tokyo," spelled backward). Not a stage. A private room you book with your people.

  3. 1993

    The first Karaoke Manekineko

The first branch under the Manekineko name opens, built around family-friendly fun. The 招き猫 lucky cat takes its place at the door, paw up, beckoning you in.

    One hundred locations

One hundred locations across Japan. Manekineko is a household name now, one of the country's biggest karaoke brands. Just getting warmed up.

    Manekineko goes to Korea

The first location outside Japan opens in Seoul. "Anyone can sing" gets its first translation. Same promise, same result.

  6. 2017

    Five hundred rooms

"Let's go to Manekineko" is now an everyday sentence. As ordinary as "let's go to dinner."
